Visiting Toronto could be described as a trip to the New York of the north, due to the exceptionally wide range of entertainment that is on offer at night throughout the city.
The city is home to no less than four professional sports teams including basketball, ice hockey, baseball and football, so there is rarely a night in which you will be short of matches to see.
If exhilaration is more your thing, a trip to the city’s CN Tower would be well advised.
Boasting the title of the largest free-standing structure in the world, the tower not only has a glass elevator to reach to top but a glass floor to see the bottom when you get there.
To eat in the evenings is perhaps one of the toughest things you will be required to do in Toronto, a city otherwise extremely laid back considering the size of the metropolis.
But don’t worry, it’s only the immense and diverse choice that will have you breaking a sweat - actually finding a restaurant is as easy as falling off a log.
Check out food districts such as Baldwin Street, King Street, College Street, and Bayview Street to find out why this city really measures up to the best bits of New York.

With the expansion of budget airlines across the globe the threat of climate change caused by flying is one that is growing.
However, taking a green approach need not dissuade you from travelling the globe in style.
Online travel resource IndependentTraveller.com has announced the launch of its new Go Green Travel Centre, an advice area which can tell potential holiday makers how to enjoy their trip yet cause the least amount of damage to the environment while doing so.
The site will contain a host of tips and advice including eco-destinations, deals for green travellers, green hotels and help with neutralizing carbon emissions from flights - all aimed at providing the same easy and luxurious standard expected from any past holiday.
In a statement to the press IndependentTraveller said: "Making small adjustments can have a positive impact on the environment.
"IndependentTraveller details ways everyone can help protect the very resorts, beaches and mountains that we love to visit - without sacrificing creature comforts."
British Gas recently found that five tonnes of CO2 - a quarter of all CO2 emitted from each house in the country - comes from travel.
A significant proportion of this CO2 comes from international flights.

The owner of the world’s largest budget airlines, Air Asia, has revealed plans for a new venture in the Middle East.
The new business will be a long-haul operation based in Bahrain, with some short-haul flights on offer as well.
If the deal goes through it will soon be possible to fly from the Middle East to destinations such as Europe, India, China and Australia - most likely for record-low prices.
Speaking from the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, at which Air Asia has sponsored the Williams F1 team, CEO Tony Fernandes said: "We hope to come back to Bahrain within two months and hold talks with the Civil Aviation Affairs to discuss our plans to fly to Bahrain.
"The initial feedback we received here has been very encouraging."
Air Asia started only five years ago with two planes and now has over 50, with rapid growth still on the agenda.
Despite flying 11 million passengers last year the company hopes to increase that number by over 50 per cent this year.
At present the airline is the cheapest in the world as it can offer a 90 minute flight for $30.

Israel is a place to leave your perceptions behind, and immerse yourself in culture like no other country possesses.
If you’re thinking of a cultural trip away there is no better place to start than Jerusalem, the holy city of the Jews, Christians and Muslims alike.
Split into three parts, Jerusalem offers plenty of variations on a city break.
The Old City, which houses most of the sights to be seen around a walled border, is split into four quarters in itself, with an Armenian, Christian, Muslim and Jewish quarter providing enough food, tea and shisha to keep you relaxed and entertained for days.
Apart from the Old City there is East Jerusalem, a predominantly Arab area, and West Jerusalem and up-and-coming modern town.
But, if you tend to suffer from cultural overload you can relax until nightfall, when you can visit the Haoman 17 warehouse nightclub, where you’ll find international DJs spinning trip-hop, techno and house underneath trapeze artists and fire-eaters.
…Just to show you why you really need to leave those preconceptions at the airport!

If you’ve ever felt the urge to take yourself off around South-East Asia then now could be you best opportunity yet.
An airline in Malaysia has begun offering flights for under $3 each way, stretching as far as Thailand for $10.
Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, has its lowest single fare priced at $2.60 and although 2,000 seats have been set aside so they can be given away free, it has been claimed that more will be given away if demand requires so.
From its Penang base the airline uses two 50-seat planes to serve Malaysian cities such as Kota Baru, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan and Langkawi and, from this week, the carrier will bring you to Phuket and Koh Samui in Thailand too.
Budget travel is booming in South-East Asia, with Richard Branson already trying to pair up with Air Asia, and Oasis Airlines doing well - currently offering single fares between London and Hong Kong for under £150.
With these offers available the wise traveller could do no better than to keep hopping on those one-way flights - because by adding them up they won’t take too much out of your wallet, but as the above offers can demonstrate, will take you around the world!
